This One's for the Farmers
One of the cool things we did on Jeju was go to a couple of folk villages. The first was a recreation of different kinds of villages and tools and things, sort of like Living History Farms.
Recreation of rice farming, which used to be quite labor intensive (it's mechanized now). You can read more about it here (scroll down to the Korea heading).
The other folk village we went to is an actual functioning village. The government pays the residents a subsidy and they go about their lives the way their ancestors did a hundred years ago. Our guide took us to a restaurant in the village (which was fully modernized) and then we saw how the restaurants' owners live. They even had a black pig!
