And the Award for Most Creative Transportation Goes to...

...the Philippines! Sure, they have the usual taxis, buses, airplanes, and ferries, but they also have some unique modes that you might not find anywhere else, including the following gems:



Bancas--for navigating those crazy coastlines. My personal favorite of the bunch (yes, we tried all of them).



Tricycles--basically motorcycles with a shell for hauling people around. They're more common in smaller towns like Banaue and Puerto Princesa.



Jeepneys--these pimped out refurbished jeeps are EVERYWHERE, which makes for one of the most colorful sights in the islands. The streets are clogged with these diesel beasts! They're sort of like minibuses, and if I had to guess, I'd say they were the most popular way of getting around.
