Traditional Korean...Black Light Dance?

More on our trip to Gyeongju...Friday night we just made it back from Bulgoksa in time to go to a show of traditional Korean music and dance. Every weekend in the spring and summer they put on a show at an outdoor theater. We saw a lot of cool stuff, including songs with a flute and with drums and several dances.

One of my favorites was the fan dance. The dancers used their fans to create shapes and animals like a peacock.

So we're sitting there watching a traditional dance from hundreds of years ago and all of a sudden the regular lights go down and black lights come up.

We got a good laugh, but the dance was still cool. I honestly can't think of a better way to describe Korea's modern aesthetic: Black light + traditional dance = cool.
