Spider Hero

This week is one of the big holiday periods in China, so we're pretty much laying low to avoid the influx of tourists from the rest of China (and also Japan and Korea since it's a big holiday time for them, too). We did, however, go to our first movie: Spider Hero (a.k.a. Spiderman). The theater was quite good. The movie, on the other hand, was only OK. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as good as the first two. Just lower your expectations a notch and you should be fine!

The free popcorn that came with our tickets helped improve the experience. It was sweet and salty (but not as greasy as kettle corn) and coated with blue sugar. The only downside was that it was a bit sticky--Joel walked out of the theater with three or four giant pieces of popcorn stuck to his t-shirt and didn't realize it until we were halfway home.

The other bonus was the giant inflatable Spiderman twisted in a rather obscene position outside the theater. We're just going to have to start taking the camera with us everywhere we go so we don't miss this stuff! You just never know what you're going to run into even when running the most mundane errands.

Today it was 84 degrees. Seeing as it's barely May, this does not bode well for summer temperatures!
